St. Ambrose University is accepting applications for the position of Director of the Library, with a start date of July 1, 2022. The Director leads the library's support of student learning and success; facilitates collaboration with faculty to meet curricular needs; and values meaningful engagement with the university and community partners. The successful candidate will have an affinity for the environment of private colleges & universities and an understanding of issues facing higher education. The Director is an administrative position with non-tenured faculty status reporting to the Chief Academic Officer. Review of applications will begin December 1, 2021 and continue until the position is filled.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee library personnel, budget planning and administration.
  • Maintain strong relationships with consortia and cooperative library initiatives to expand access to and manage costs of resources.
  • Teach sections of the required information literacy course.
  • Establish processes for assessments of library services, collections, and spaces.
  • Collaborate effectively with other academic support departments.
  • Promote and facilitate use and creation of open educational resources.
  • Represent the library and the university in professional organizations.

Required Qualifications:

  • ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS or equivalent degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful administrative experience in academic libraries, including budget management and supervision of library staff
  • Evidence of scholarly and/or professional achievement
