St. Ambrose University is accepting applications for the position of Director of the Accessibility Resource Center (ARC). The Director leads the Universities efforts in ensuring students with disabilities are afforded reasonable accommodations, academic adjustments or modifications intended to reduce the effects a disability may have on their performance in a traditional academic environment. The Director is responsible for supervising professional and student employees; support of student learning and success; facilitates collaboration with faculty to meet curricular needs; and values meaningful engagement with the university and community partners. The successful candidate will have an affinity for the environment of private colleges & universities and an understanding of issues facing higher education. The Director is an administrative position with a manageable student case load reporting to the Associate Vice-President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Review of applications will begin July 15, 2022 and continue until the position is filled.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise ARC personnel, budget planning and day to day operations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with University constituents and offices to advocate for and ensure students are afforded a discriminatory free educational environment
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of services and report findings in coordination with the AVP for DEI
  • Assist students in developing skills needed to communicate effectively with faculty and other University employees about the nature of their disability and the need for specific accommodations.
  • Collaborate effectively with other academic support departments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful higher education administrative experience in area of responsibility or related area, including budget management and supervision of staff
  • Evidence of scholarly and/or professional achievement
